Pa Rump Rump Rump Rump

You're never going to believe what this is!  really..take a guess.  this is what Ashley taught us at the Ricky's Staff Christmas party. While other people were getting drunk, we were taking pictures...yup.  we had fun.

(I'll give you one hint...it's not a bum...whoever guesses what it is first, WINS!!)

Jingle Bells, Running, Awkward Dancing and Back Aches

 Back Aches

For those of you who are of the observant species, you will have noticed that i was walking like an old lady (minus the walker....although having one would have been nice) last night at Dee's birthday dinner (HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEE....being 22 is weird eh?  22...22...22...22...yeah...it's weird).  it all started with one pair of jeans at Garage...

i was shopping yesterday, and after trying on some jeans at Garage, i started to get this HUGE pain in my lower back.  aw dang.  it got progressively worse and had me walking at a turtles pace all bent over like an old person.  i have a greater respect for old people now...  i layed on my back when i got home, until i went to Dee's birthday Dinner. it was after the dinner that was the most painful experience of the whole night.  walking out to Lindsay's car and getting into it was the most painful experience thus far in my life i think.  it brought small tears to my eyes, although none fell.  lucky for me my response to painful or stressful situations is to laugh and joke.  that helped a little.  i seriously thought that i should go to the emergency and get some morphine.  enough of the whimpy 600mg ibuprophen, i need to good stuff!  to brighten my spirits i watched Mr. Bean with my family.  (but i am still totally up for a Mr. Bean night with y'all sometime...maybe a last class bash party with Mr. Bean??  it would almost be as good as our face painting and trunk ride excursion last year...almost)

so i went to a chiropractor today and it helped, although i am still in quite a bit of pain.  going to the bathroom has never been such a chore!  nor brushing my teeth for that matter...

so pray that i will have a quick recovery, and i won't have to take too much more time off of work.  although i am thoroughly enjoying the day off...well...except for the pain!!

Jingle Bells and Running

On November 25 i did something i have never done before...ran a race.

ok that's a lie, but it was the first time i'd ever run 5km in the Jingle Bell Run for Arthritis.  (given my current state of ache, i can better understand the pain arthritis causes....kind of)  Thanks to Renae who helped me train and is a great motivator and encourager.  i had kind of been training for about 5 weeks (which consisted of running once a week.  HA!  yeah i was hardcore.....)  the day of the race was CRAZY!!  the weather really was Frightfull! it was -17 degrees and snowing! only the hardcore runners came out (about 300) of which renae and i were in their number.  Th ey even gave every person a jingle bell to attach to their shoe.  we all jingled as we ran.  it was quite the event.  Renae beat me by 1 second!  we completed the 5km run in 30min36sec and 30min37sec running at a rate of 9.52min/mile.  i had so much fun running the race...well not at the time...it was hell runing it in the cold.  my lungs were burning and i had a frost goatee...but the idea of being in a race was really fun.  the whole experience was great, and i am hoping to do more runs.  there's the Moonlight Run in march and i'm hoping to run the 10km for that one.  here is a before picture of renae and i.

we did not look this good AFTER the race...what with our frosty goatee's and all...

Awkward Dancing

oh and here's a random video of "awkward dancing at the awkward halloween dance"

Yeah...i'm hot stuff....

And i'll leave you with some amazing classical guitar music played by our very own josh.

Crosses

Crosses - Jose Gonzalez

Don't you know that I'll be around to guide you
Through your weakest moments to leave them behind you
Returning nightmares only shadows
We'll cast some light and you'll be alright
We'll cast some light and you'll be alright for now

Crosses all over, heavy on your shoulders
The sirens inside you waiting to step forward
Disturbing silence darkens you sight
We'll cast some light and you'll be alright
We'll cast some light and you'll be alright for now

Crosses all over the boulevard
Crosses all over the boulevard
Crosses all over the boulevard
Crosses all over the boulevard

The streets outside your window overflooded
People staring, they know you've been broken
Repeatedly reminded by the looks on their faces
Ignore them tonight and you'll be alright
We'll cast some light and you'll be alright

* if i knew HOW to put music on my xanga i'd have this song playing right now.  the music is the best part.
**Can someone tell me HOW to put the music on my xanga??

The 60's & Music Video's

So today was an interesting day.  basically i've felt like i've lived in another era, and it has been fun.  i woke up and danelle backcomed my hair to the size of a small car tire, and i put on the wackiest outfit you've ever seen.  all that topped of with some big white clip-on earings.  can you guess what era i was from?  that's right...the 60's!!  (you're not so smart you know....i gave you the answer in the title....yeah....deflate that head of yours just a little will ya?) too bad i couldn't wear the green dress i bought (it was PERFECTLY the style of the 60's....i would have looked like i came right out of Austin Powers the movie), because i would have just disappeared if i had....bummer...the dress is the best part and if no one sees it, what's the point?  well i guess there is always my mile-high hair (which looked FANTASTIC and is even now, mildly huge).

so how did this all transpire??  well, i got a call from a guy who works in productions.  he phoned me via nicole, because she couldn't do it so she recommended me!  (she's my free manager).  he asks if i can learn a couple songs and record them and do them like a music video.  i'm like "SURE SOUNGS LIKE FUN!!! (all the while not really understanding what the heck i'm getting myself in to).  so i pick up the songs from his house thursday night, learn them friday, and with all different lyrics than the original, and record them on saturday (today).  so i show up this morning and pop out of my white grandma car looking like a blast from the past and say "HI" really loud.  it's a good thing we were outside cause if we were inside, he may have thought i had a hearing problem cause i talked so loud.  it think it was just nerves combined with adrenaline that made me loud and all BghaolooiowAH. ANYWAY.  the recording part was fine.  we took two cuts of each song and it was dandy.  but then out popped the camera's and he's like "can you add some hand gestures.  we'll make it like a music video."   HAND GESTURES? why thanks for making it specific and easy for me.  "you're a star.....you know what to do...." (yeah right).

so the music comes on and oh MAN....i start snapping my fingers moving them up and down and lip sinking to my own singing, trying to remember the words cause i didn't really have all that much time to memorize them and the teleprompter wasn't working and OH man was i the epitomy of AWKWARD!!!  no i'm serious.  like i've never been so self conscious in my life.....the cheesy perma-grin and the hand gestures got me on that one.  but really, how are you supposed to act normal and just "feel the groove" when you're lip sinking in front a green screen in a large room with just an old man video taping you with a camera?  not so easy.  BUT i'm not at all tainted by the experience.  i actually had a lot of fun.  i just felt bad for not having all the words memorized.  but given the fact that i had one day to pull it all together (and find "something 60's" to wear...THANK YOU Salvation Army Thrift Store and Danielle) i think it went pretty dang good great alright.

the best part is, he's paying me like i'm a professional! HA!  me...a professional....well it sure beats
"what do you do now that you have you BACHELOR's in MUSIC?"
"i'm a waitress.......yeah....i know....." (you can just see the judgement clouding over).

so yeah....another day in the life of a post-undergrad music student.....tah dah...

MA out.....out looking like the 60's....

good car, bad engrish

So, my car got hit whilst sitting in the parking lot at Score's last thursday.  i didnt' even see it happen.  i wasn't even IN the car!!  and no, they (probably a drunk HE) didn't leave any contact info-mation.  the NERVE of some people.  it will probably cost me a third of what i actually paid for the car to get it fixed.  for the LUV!!!!

in brighter news, i found a new favourite webpage: www.engrish.com   It's all about bad english translations on random things....shirts, signs, restaurants etc. it will make you giggle a bit.  check it out.

MA out....of money....
